Fort Miami Women’s Rugby Kicks Off Home Opener with 40-12 Victory Over Tampa Krewe

Fort Miami Women’s Rugby defended the fort with a dominant 40-12 victory in their first home game of the season against the Tampa Krewe. The team delivered a strong performance in front of their home crowd! 

Several players contributed to the scoring effort, veteran Morgan Brown, Scrum-half Liz Najjar rookie Essence Bell, rookie Taylor Lynott, rookie Morgan Walker, and veteran Jessica Smith all found the try zone. Captain Morgan Freeman played a key role in leading the team to victory and successfully made several conversions to add crucial points to the scoreboard.

The team’s well-rounded play and teamwork were on full display, setting the tone for the rest of the season. Recognizing outstanding individual performances, Stephanie Nevadunsky was named Forward of the Match while Liz Najjar earned Back of the Match. Additionally, Vanessa Plasencia was awarded Rookie of the Match, Morgan Walker took home Heavy Hitter of the Match, and Morgan Brown was recognized as MVP of the Match.
